Villa Tranchese is a senior housing development owned and maintained by the San Antonio Housing Authority. The eleven-story building includes 142 one-bedroom apartments, 40 efficiency units, and 19 two-bedroom units. The community is landscaped, with a gazebo and picnic area in the enclosed courtyard. Rent is determined based upon 30% of adjusted income, 10% monthly income, with a $25 minimum rent, utilities included. Elderly supportive services and a city-sponsored Nutrition Program for the noon meal are provided for resident convenience. There is a large monthly party to celebrate resident birthdays, washer and dryer facilities on each floor, and weekly bingo. Pets are welcome.

  • 3. Be careful and accurate on all information provided: Any false or misleading information on your application will most likely result in your disqualification.
  • 4. Waiting Lists: The waiting lists for most, if not all low-income housing programs is long. Do not limit yourself to only apply to one apartment location.

Qualifications: Do you qualify to live here?
To qualify for low income housing in Texas, you must meet the following income requirements:

Your household income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI). The AMI is updated annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and varies by county.

You must have a valid Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant.

In addition to the income requirements, you may also need to meet other eligibility requirements, such as:

- You must not have been evicted from any public housing or Section 8 housing in the past three years.
- You must not have any outstanding felony convictions for drug-related offenses.
- You must not be a registered sex offender.
