Seminole County Housing Authority provides housing assistance to low income residents through the management of programs such as Low Rent Public Housing and the Housing Choice Voucher Program - Section 8. These programs are income based and the eligibility requirements are set by HUD. There may be a waiting list for these programs and at times the lists may close to new applicants due to the overwhelming need for housing assistance and the size and length of wait of the lists. If you are in need of assistance please contact the Housing Authority directly to obtain more information about eligibility requirements, availability of assistance, the status of any waiting lists and their application procedures. Their office is available Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 4:30pm to assist you. 

At the time of the last update of this listing , July 2011 , the Housing Authority website stated that the HCV - Section 8 waiting list was closed and they were accepting application for their Public Housing Community waiting list.



Tips Before Applying for Low Income Housing

  • 4. Waiting Lists: The waiting lists for most, if not all low-income housing programs is long. Do not limit yourself to only apply to one apartment location.

Qualifications: Do you qualify to live here?
To qualify for low income housing in Florida, you must meet the following income requirements:

Your household income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI). The AMI is updated annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and varies by county.

You must have a valid Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant.

In addition to the income requirements, you may also need to meet other eligibility requirements, such as:

- You must not have been evicted from any public housing or Section 8 housing in the past three years.
- You must not have any outstanding felony convictions for drug-related offenses.
- You must not be a registered sex offender.

    My fiancee and i are homeless and unemployed due to covid -19. I'm a 52 year old female and i'm currently living in a tent in the woods. I've been trying to get information and help in getting a place to live ~ but i seem to keep running in circles getting nowhere fast. Let me know what i can do to get help...     Where do i go to apply and get info to get on list. On disability, medicare and medicaid.
