Morning Star Senior Residences, located in Moline, Ill., is co-sponsored by Disciples Uniting in the Quad Cities and United Church Homes, Inc. It is managed by United Church Homes, Inc. Morning Star Senior Residences is an apartment community located in the city of Moline. To be eligible, applicants must meet rental criteria and be age 62 or older as defined in the HUD 202 elderly program.

At Morning Star the safety of our residents is paramount. That is why we have a secure building that is only accessible to our tenants. Also, our tenants are provided a Personal Emergency Response System at no cost to them, so they have help in the event of an emergency. Friends and family can be assured that their loved ones are always within reach of prompt assistance. In addition, we have an on-site Service Coordinator who is committed to connecting residents with health care agencies to satisfy any needs they may have during their stay in the community.

At Morning Star we believe building community is important. We have fun and engage in activities with residents on a day to day basis. Social clubs, community activities, weekly matinee movies, game nights, Pot Lucks, and Taco Tuesdays are routine events for our residents at Morning Star. Our Community Room is great for hosting friends and family for special events and throwing holiday parties for the resident community.

At Morning Star the comfort of our residents is our priority. Apartments includes individually controlled heat & air, all appliances, switches and outlets that are within easy reach, deadbolt locks, grab bars that are installed in the bathrooms, smoke detectors, private mailboxes, and fire resistant units. Laundry facilities are provided, as well as in house trash and recycling services. In your spare time, feel free to visit the 3rd floor patio that overlooks the Mississippi River or drink a cup of coffee under the first floor pergola. You could also take a walk with friends through the beautiful surrounding wooded parks. Needless to say, Morning Star is a serene place to call home.

At Morning Star affordability is key to worry free living. Residents will only pay 30% of their adjusted monthly income for rent. All utilities are included in the rent with the exception of telephone and cable television. No need to worry about that dreaded heating bill during the winter months.

Qualifications: Do you qualify to live here?
To qualify for low income housing in Illinois, you must meet the following income requirements:

Your household income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI). The AMI is updated annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and varies by county.

You must have a valid Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant.

In addition to the income requirements, you may also need to meet other eligibility requirements, such as:

- You must not have been evicted from any public housing or Section 8 housing in the past three years.
- You must not have any outstanding felony convictions for drug-related offenses.
- You must not be a registered sex offender.
