Eloy Housing Authority provides housing assistance to low income residents through the management of programs such as Low Rent Public Housing and the Housing Choice Voucher Program - Section 8.

These programs are income based and eligibility requirements are set by HUD.

There may be a waiting list for vouchers or rentals and at times the list may close to new applicants due to the overwhelming need for housing assistance in the area.

Tips Before Applying for Low Income Housing
  • 1. Research all of the different low-income housing programs available in your area. There are a variety of federal, state, and local programs that offer low-income housing assistance.   • 2. Get all of your documentation in order: When you apply for low income housing, you will need to provide documentation of your income, assets, and household composition. This documentation may include tax returns, pay stubs, bank statements, and birth certificates.
  • 3. Be careful and accurate on all information provided: Any false or misleading information on your application will most likely result in your disqualification.
  • 4. Waiting Lists: The waiting lists for most, if not all low-income housing programs is long. Do not limit yourself to only apply to one apartment location.

Qualifications: Do you qualify to live here?
To qualify for low income housing in Arizona, you must meet the following income requirements:

Your household income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI). The AMI is updated annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and varies by county.

You must have a valid Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant.

In addition to the income requirements, you may also need to meet other eligibility requirements, such as:

- You must not have been evicted from any public housing or Section 8 housing in the past three years.
- You must not have any outstanding felony convictions for drug-related offenses.
- You must not be a registered sex offender.

*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get in some apartments the 100% rate changes to things like 200%. In these cases, you will only need to multiply the rate in each category by 2.

    I'm possibly relocating from illinois to be near my father in florence. I'm trying to find out the cost of living and so on. I noted there is a possibility waiting list. How long is the list if you know. I am a single 39 yr old female who is disabled and awaiting my determination of my ssi response so i am unsure 1, if i will be approved and have to apply again and 2, if i am approved i am unsure for what monthly amount. A few questions i do have, is the area safe, clean, and diverse in nationality? I am mixed white/mexican but i carry mostly my white side complexion. Sorry if these are odd questions. My disability is complex post traumatic stress disorder and i live in fear daily. Also what features does the property offer. Thank you so much for your time. Sorry again. I am nervous moving from a town that's only 3 miles all around. Have a blessed day.
