Located at 511-529 Zion Street, this 24-unit affordable housing development is a continuation of our efforts to make an impact in revitalizing the Frog Hollow neighborhood. This project included the acquisition of six properties including three blighted buildings that were demolished, and three vacant lots. Completed in 2007, Zion Street consists of 22 three bedroom and 2 two bedroom flats. The new building features the architectural style of Hartford's storied "Perfect Six" houses and integrates the efficient "Row House" design first found in Philadelphia and common in many urban settings.

Zion Street Mutual Housing won a 2007 Historic Preservation award from the Hartford Preservation Alliance. Good design and construction along with preservation of community character were key elements in setting this property's value and creating a desirable neighborhood that will attract further investment.

Qualifications: Do you qualify to live here?
To qualify for low income housing in Connecticut, you must meet the following income requirements:

Your household income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI). The AMI is updated annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and varies by county.

You must have a valid Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant.

In addition to the income requirements, you may also need to meet other eligibility requirements, such as:

- You must not have been evicted from any public housing or Section 8 housing in the past three years.
- You must not have any outstanding felony convictions for drug-related offenses.
- You must not be a registered sex offender.
