Depending on the size of the apartment you are looking for, and how many people would be residing there, there are specific minimum and maximum income requirements. These are the minimum requirements:

1 bedroom apartments start at $545. Your household income must be at least $16,350 per year.
2 bedroom apartments start at $655. Your household income must be at least $19,650 per year.
2 bedroom town homes start at $780. Your household income must be at least $23,400 per year.
3 bedroom town homes start at $890. Your household income must be at least $26,700 per year.
4 bedroom town homes start at $965. Your household income must be at least $28,950 per year.
5 bedroom town homes start at $1060. Your household income must be at least $31,800 per year.

Tips Before Applying for Low Income Housing

Qualifications: Do you qualify to live here?
To qualify for low income housing in New York, you must meet the following income requirements:

Your household income must be below 80% of the area median income (AMI). The AMI is updated annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and varies by county.

You must have a valid Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant.

In addition to the income requirements, you may also need to meet other eligibility requirements, such as:

- You must not have been evicted from any public housing or Section 8 housing in the past three years.
- You must not have any outstanding felony convictions for drug-related offenses.
- You must not be a registered sex offender.
