Habitat Invites People From All Faiths And Walks Of Life To Work Together In Partnership, Building Houses With Families In Need.

Syracuse Habitat for Humanity works to develop leadership, education and economic self-sufficiency in our homeowners.

Homeowners must complete a required training course sponsored by Home Headquarters on: homeownership, maintenance and continued home care. Also required are 300 "sweat equity hours" which provide hands-on training on home repair and maintenance. In addition, several of our homeowners advanced their academic education because of their homeownership.

Homeownership builds personal equity; owning a home is the most effective way to gain economic self-sufficiency and independence. Our homeowners change their socioeconomic status simply through homeownership. Syracuse Habitat for Humanity provides continued training and counseling for homeowners on personal budgeting and the ability to maintain a cost-effective home through working knowledge of repairs and potential costs.
